María Valencia was born in Ecuador, she started her studies in Guayaquil in FOSJE “Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil del Ecuador”, and started to collaborate with the Guayaquil Symphony Orchestra.
She moved to the capital, Quito, to become a member of the “Ecuadorian Philharmonic Orchestra” where she met Gaudy Sanchez Moreno, soloist trumpet from the Simón Bolívar Orchestra, immediately after she participated in an Erasmus project that gave her the opportunity to move to Venezuela to continue her studies in “El Sistema”
While she was living in Caracas she was a member of the “Banda Sinfónica Simón Bolívar” and at the same time she studied in the “Latin America trumpet Academy” with Gaudy Sanchez, having the opportunity to receive lesson with Fernando Ciancio (Teatro Colon- Argentina), Luis Gonzalez (International soloist), Max Sommerhalder (Hochschule für Musik Detmold), Francisco Flores ( international soloist) and the prestigious Brass Quintet Canadian Brass.
Being part of the “EL SISTEMA” motivated to follow her passion for education, passion that turned into reality later.
In 2012 she moved to Europe, at first to Amsterdam, where she studied in the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Win Van Hasselt and Giuliano Sommerhalder.
Later on, she performed for the first time in Asia, and participated in the Hamamatsu Wind instrument Academy in Hamamatsu-Japan and Macau Band fair Festival in Macau – China.
In 2014 she moved to Italy to completed her master degree in the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, classical and baroque trumpet with Gianmario Bonino and Jonathan Pia.
She has performed in several theatres in Italy specially in Milan where she currently lives and is enrolled with ASLICO-Orchestra 1813 in Como, Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi in Milan, Orchestra della Accademia Montis Regalis, and many other music organizations and associations in the north of Italy.
She has performed either in orchestra, chamber music and soloist in Florida- USA, Muscat- Oman in the Royal Opera House, Ecuador, Switzerland, Monaco, Germany, Spain, among others.
In 2015 she decided to start her teaching approach, due to her nomination as trumpet teacher in CPSM (Corsi Popolari Serali di Musica ) in the Verdi Conservatory in Milan.
2017 she was pointed trumpet teacher in the Ricordi Music School biggest private school in the north of Italy. Combining teaching and performing, especially in baroque music she formed part of the Padova Baroque Orchestra, Montis Regalis and besides this, she participated in the first baroque symposium in Schola Cantorum in Basel- Switzerland.
IN 2019 for the first time, Valencia made her debut in the International Trumpet Guild in USA.
In addition, she is part of the Staff team at the Girolamo Fantini International Trumpet Competition, held by Giuliano Sommerhalder and hosted by AIMART Academy.
Currently she continues with her teaching and performing activities.
As a result of her experience with kids and teenagers she creates her first trumpet Method (Trombalandia Trumpet Studio) having a great audience and impact in many places in the world through her social media page.
