Born in 1985, Matteo Evangelisti began studying flute at the age of 13 with Maestro Filippo Cianfoni. At the age of 17, he graduated as a private student of the L. Refice Conservatory in Frosinone, with the highest marks and honors. After graduation, he continued his studies at the Imola Academy with Maestro Glauco Cambursano, obtaining his Master’s degree.

Over the years he has won numerous national competitions, such as the Leonardo da Lorenzo, Severino Gazzelloni, Krakamp, Syrinx, and Palmi as well as having great success outside of Italy, winning the International Competition “Biwako” in Japan, the First Prize at the International Competition “Timisoara” in Romania, the Special Mention at the International Competition “Jean-Pierre Rampal” in Paris, the Second Prize and the Prize Special for the best performance of Jean Francaix’s “Divertimento” at the “Maxence Larrieu” International Competition in Nice. Later, he performed as a soloist in Monte Carlo, Nice and Geneva, as well as in a duo with Maxence Larrieu, which was also broadcast on live radio.

He carries out an intense soloist career in Italy and abroad, holding concerts and masterclasses in national and international festivals, as well as teaching advanced courses in Rome and Pescara.

He has performed as first flute with numerous orchestras in Italy and abroad, including the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Orchestra from 2008 to 2010, appointed by Maestro Zubin Mehta.

From 2010 until present, he holds the coveted position of first flute at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma selected by Maestro Riccardo Muti.
