Study plan

The advanced piano course lasts a minimum of one year and up to three. The teacher agrees with each student the repertoire to be studied, any participation in competitions and concerts, and the schedule of internal examinations. The annual study plan comprises:
• a recital programme, from Bach to the present day.
• a concerto for piano and orchestra, from Mozart to the twentieth century.
• preparation for competitions.

Each student is entitled to one session a month, over ten months, from October to July. At the end of the course each student sits the assessment leading to the Diploma or the Master’s Diploma; this also makes the student eligible for a scholarship for the following year.

Entry requirements

Applications are open to students up to 30 years of age already holding a diploma under the former Italian system, or equivalent qualifications of the Italian or international systems. In cases of outstanding talent the panel may admit a student who does not meet the requirements set out above.

The advanced training courses are aimed at Italian and international students who wish to build on skills already acquired elsewhere.


Aims and methods are agreed case by case, according to each student’s needs.
