Cardiello Giorgio
Born in Salerno in 1995, he began studying the horn at the age of eleven at the N. Monterisi middle school with Antonio Proto.

He attended the “G. Martucci” Conservatoire in Salerno from 2008 to 2016, studying with Carlo Torlontano and Filippo Azzaretto, taking his horn diploma in June 2014 with 9 marks out of 10 and his degree in October 2016 with 110 cum laude and the commendation of the panel.


Frequenta il conservatorio G. Martucci di Salerno dall’anno 2008 all’anno 2016 sotto la guida dei M. Carlo Torlontano e Filippo Azzaretto, con il quale consegue il diploma di corno nel Giugno 2014 con votazione di 9 punti su 10 e la laurea nell’Ottobre 2016 con voto 110, lode e menzione della commissione.

He has taken masterclasses with the leading Italian horn players and teachers, among them Luca Benucci, Guido Corti, Roberto Miele, Luciano Giuliani, Carmine Pinto and Paolo Armato, and has also studied with horn players of international standing such as Radovan Vlatković (with whom he studied for a year on a scholarship at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste), Jonathan Williams, Dale Clevenger and Frøydis Ree Wekre. In 2010 he took third prize at the “Federico II di Svevia” international competition in Sannicandro di Bari; in 2013 and 2014 he took part in the “Lorenzo Borghi” national competition in Leghorn, winning second prize in 2013 and third in 2014. In 2016 he was placed second on the list of successful candidates in the audition at the “Teatro Massimo” in Palermo for third horn with section duties, with 8.28 out of 10.

Ha frequentato Masterclasses con i migliori cornisti e didatti italiani, tra cui Luca Benucci, Guido Corti, Roberto Miele, Luciano Giuliani, Carmine Pinto e Paolo Armato e ha studiato anche con grandi cornisti di chiara fama internazionale quali Radovan Vlatkovic (con il quale ha studiato per un anno, ottenendo una borsa di studio, presso l’ Hochschule der Kunste di Zurich) Jonathan Williams, Dale Clevenger, e Freudis Ree Wekre. Ha partecipato nell’anno 2010 al concorso internazionale “Federico II di Svevia” presso Sannicandro di Bari ottenendo il 3 premio e negli anni 2013 e 2014 ha partecipato al concorso nazionale “Lorenzo Borghi” presso Leghorn ottenendo nel 2013 il secondo premio e nel 2014 il terzo premio. Nell’anno 2016 ottiene l’idoneità nell’audizione presso l’orchestra del “Teatro Massimo” di Palermo, classificandosi 2° idoneo, per III Corno con obbligo della fila con voto 8.28 su 10.

In 2017 he passed the audition at the “Teatro Petruzzelli” in Bari for third horn with first and section duties (21 out of 30) and for fourth horn with second and section duties (21 out of 30). In the same year he passed the audition at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome for second horn with fourth and doubling on first, with 28.5 out of 30, placing first. In 2019 he passed the audition at “I Pomeriggi Musicali” in Milan for first horn with third and section duties, placing second; and, again in 2019, the audition at the “Teatro Petruzzelli” in Bari for third horn with first duties (27 out of 30), placing first, and for fourth horn with second and section duties (25 out of 30), placing second. He reached the final and was commended twice (in 2019 and 2020) in the audition for first horn at the Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi in Trieste.

Nell’anno 2017 ottiene l’idoneità nell’audizione presso l’orchestra del “Teatro Petruzzelli” di Bari per III Corno con obbligo del I e della fila (Voto 21 su 30) e per IV Corno con obbligo del II e della fila (Voto 21 su 30). Nella’anno 2017 ottiene l’idoneità presso il “Teatro dell’Opera di Roma” per II Corno con obbligo del IV e raddoppio al I, con voto 28,5 su 30 classificandosi 1° idoneo. Nell’anno 2019 ottiene l’idoneità presso l’orchestra “I Pomeriggi Musicali di Milano” per I Corno con Obbligo del Terzo e della fila, classificandosi 2° idoneo. Nell’anno 2019 ottiene l’idoneità presso l’orchestra del “Teatro Petruzzelli” di Bari, per III Corno con obbligo del I (Voto 27 su 30) classificandosi 1° idoneo, e per IV Corno con obbligo del II e della fila (Voto 25/30) classificandosi 2° Idoneo. Risulta per 2 volte finalista e segnalato (nell’anno 2019 e nell’anno 2020) al concorso per I Corno presso il teatro lirico G. Verdi di Trieste.
