David Ciavarella
David Ciavarella, born in Rome in 1963, came to music as a child, singing as a soloist in the choir of the Sistine Chapel.

He studied piano and voice at the “S. Cecilia” Conservatoire in Rome and took his voice diploma under Maestro Rivoli in 1992 at the Salerno Conservatoire. He then began his career as a soloist, ranging from eighteenth- and nineteenth-century sacred music to the operatic repertoire (L’elisir d’amore, La traviata, Madama Butterfly and others).


Ha studiato pianoforte e canto presso il conservatorio di musica “S. Cecilia” di Rome e si è diplomato in canto sotto la guida del M° Rivoli nel 1992 presso il Conservatorio di Salerno. Da allora inizia la sua carriera come solista spaziando dalla musica sacra del 1700 – 1800 al repertorio operistico (elisir d’amore, traviata, Butterfly ecc. ecc.).

Japan, Australia, England, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Hungary . He has also made a number of recordings for television and thetheatre . In the academic year 1995–96 he took the advanced courses given by Sesto Bruscantini at the “Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia” in Rome, and attended courses given by Richard Miller at the Salzburg Mozarteum . He went on to study with the mezzo-soprano Anna Di Stasio and the tenor Salvatore Puma. Every year since 2000 he has given concerts and courses in vocal technique and interpretation for various Japanese music associations in Tokyo, Osaka and Sendai. He has performed at the Izumi Hall in Tokyo and the Bunka Hall in Osaka, working withleading Japanese universities and orchestras . Following a concert in March 2003 he has given regular concerts andcourses in vocal technique at the University of Cambridge, England . In August 2014 he gave a course in vocal technique for the Australian National University in Canberra and sang, in the same period, at theLlewellyn Hall in that city. Since 2004 he has invited the choir and orchestra of theUniversity of Cambridge to Italy, organising with Italian musicians a series of concerts for choir, soloists and orchestra (Mozart’s Spatzenmesse, Schubert’s Mass in G, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Beatus Vir, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Mozart’s Requiem and others). della stessa città. He gives
many concerts
with various chamber groups (the “Quartetto Modigliani”, the “Cameristi della Sabina” and others). In July 2005, at the invitation of teachers from a university in Seoul (Korea), he gave a course in vocal technique to a group of young Koreans who had come to Italy expressly for it. In April 2005 he received the

Premio Fiuggi for his contribution to Italian musical life. In October 2005 he gave a concert at Wells Cathedral in England in the presence of local dignitaries and representatives of the Crown. In July 2006 he sang Lando in Primo Riccitelli’s opera “Madonna Oretta” , rediscovered and staged by the Tagliacozzo Festival in partnership with the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome . In 2007 he performed Mozart’s Requiem and in 2008 travelled to Cambridge for a series of concerts, performing in Italy Mozart’s Coronation Mass conducted by Sergio La Stella. His intense and continuous activity has taken him to perform and teachcourses all over the world "Messa dell'Incoronazione" di Mozart diretto dal M° Sergio La Stella. Besides his
regular international teaching
in

Japan and in England for the University of Cambridge, every summer, to bring the Italian bel canto technique to a wider audience outside the cities, he gives courses in vocal technique in Supino (Frosinone). From 2000 to 2008 he was director of the “I. Ilari” municipal music school in Monte Porzio Catone (Rome). From 2006 to 2009 he also taught voice at the Korean academy “Arena” in Rome corsi di tecnica vocale a Supino (FR). Dal 2000 al 2008 è stato Direttore della Scuola Comunale di Musica “I. Ilari” di Monteporzio Catone (RM). Dal 2006 al 2009 è stato anche docente di canto presso l' accademia coreana “Arena” di Rome.

He has taught singing at the municipal schools of Nepi and Monte Porzio Catone.
He is currently artistic director of the association “L’isola del bel canto e della musica” in Monte Porzio Catone and of the association “Distrazioni d’arte” in Rome.

E' stato insegnante di canto presso le Scuole Comunali di Nepi e di Monteporzio Catone.

Attualmente è Direttore Artistico della associazione “L'isola del bel canto e della musica” di Monteporzio Catone e dell'associazione “Distrazioni d'arte” operante a Rome.
