Mauro Russo, intraprende lo studio del Fagotto a undici anni, con il maestro Giuseppe Della Valle e successivamente dopo due anni è ammesso al conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Turin al quarto anno con il maestro Giovanni Graglia.
