Salazar Ines Francisca
Ines Salazar was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and later moved to Italy, where she took her voice diploma at the Castelfranco Veneto Conservatoire under Osvaldo Alemanno, with top marks and a commendation from the President of the Italian Republic.

She took part in five international opera competitions, among them «Voci Verdiane» in Busseto, «Toti Dal Monte» in Treviso, «Giacomantonio» in Cosenza and «Mario Del Monaco» in Castelfranco, winning three first prizes and two seconds. At the «Maria Callas 1990» she was named “best voice of the competition”.


Ha partecipato a cinque concorsi lirici internazionali tra i quali «Voci Verdiane» di Busseto, «Toti Dal Monte» di Treviso, «Giacomantonio» di Cosenza e «Mario Del Monaco» di Castelfranco ottenendo tre primi premi e due secondi. Al «Maria Callas 1990» è stata eletta «miglior voce della manifestazione».

“Un ballo in maschera”

, and from then on has been noted for her Verdi and Puccini roles, becoming a leading presence on

stages worldwide . She has appeared at the major opera houses: at La Scala in Milan she sang Leonora in La forza del destino under Riccardo Muti. At theRome Opera , for the centenary of Puccini’s Tosca, she sang the title role with Luciano Pavarotti and Juan Pons, conducted by Plácido Domingoin Franco Zeffirelli’s production. She has also sung the role at theDeutsche Oper in Berlin , the “Teatro Regio” in Turin, the National Theatre in Athens and the “Teatro Verdi” in Trieste. At theTeatro Real in Madrid she sang Un ballo in maschera and Verdi’s Requiem. The Tel Aviv Opera House, the Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile and the Rome Opera have seen her as Bellini’s Norma; at the Rome Opera she has also sung Il trovatore and Ernani.At the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam she sang Beethoven’s Missa solemnis with Sir Colin Davis. With the Orchestra Sinfonica Giuseppe Verdi under Riccardo Chailly she opened the

Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi 2002 with Verdi’s Requiem, later performed at the Auditorium in Milan, in Bergamo and Brescia and, under Frühbeck de Burgos, at the international festival in Santander, Spain, and for the reopening of Dresden Cathedral in 2005. She has appeared often in the Netherlands, France and Germany , where she has been an admired Verdi singer in Macbeth, Norma and Il trovatore. In the United States she sang Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni in Baltimore and, in 2005, Tosca at the Michigan Theatre in Detroit and at the Kennedy Center in Washington , having sung Un ballo in maschera in the US capital the previous year under Plácido Domingo. At the Grand Théâtre de Genève she was a brilliant Adalgisa in Bellini’s Norma, and also Aida, a role she has sung in a large-scale production with more than a thousand extras at the Basel stadium before

lifetime achievement awards

. In 2003 the

“Premio Illica” for interpretation described her asone of the finest Toscas of recent years . In 2009 she was awarded the “Cigno d’Oro” by the Giuseppe Verdi National Museum as a pre-eminent Verdi singer worldwide. In 2011 came theAnita Cerquetti prize , in 2014 the “Tito Schipa” , together with the lifetime achievement award dedicated to her by the Castelfranco Conservatoire. She has also been made anhonorary citizen of the municipalities of Moricone and Montecosaro. insieme al “Premio alla carriera” dedicatole dal Conservatorio di Castelfranco. Ha inoltre ottenuto le cittadinanze onorarie dal Comune di Moricone (RO) e dal Comune di Montecosaro (MC).

She currently pursues a busy concert career worldwide.
Ines Salazar is often a guest on television and radio programmes and gives numerous masterclasses for opera singers in Italy and abroad. She holds the chair of singing at the Vibo Valentia Conservatoire.

Ines Salazar è spesso ospite di trasmissioni televisive e radiofoniche e si dedica al perfezionamento in numerosi masterclass per cantanti lirici in Italy e all’estero, detiene la cattedra di canto presso il conservatorio di Vibo Valentia.
